Question 1

Does Revolution Wind power reach Connecticut through its own cable?

Accepted Answer

No. The project's export cable lands in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, and the electricity enters the regional ISO New England grid. Connecticut's claim to roughly 304 megawatts of it is through long term purchase contracts, not a dedicated wire into the state.

Question 2

Will this contract lower my electric bill?

Accepted Answer

It depends, mostly on natural gas prices. When market prices run above the contract's fixed price, the deal can credit ratepayers; when they run below, it can add a cost. The reconciled figures appear in PURA filings over time.

Question 3

How much of Connecticut's power does 304 megawatts represent?

Accepted Answer

A single-digit share of the state's peak demand, which runs into the thousands of megawatts. Its value is concentrated in windy winter hours rather than spread evenly across the year.

Question 4

Is the project actually finished?

Accepted Answer

The developer has said it began delivering power in early 2026 and is working through final commissioning. Offshore projects reach full output in stages, so treat any single completion date as approximate.

Question 5

Was this the project hit by a federal stop-work order?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A stop-work order in late summer 2025 paused construction when the project was well along, and a court lifted it soon after. It is a useful example of how federal review can still interrupt an offshore schedule.
